For more than four years, I was a journalist at the Fort Collins Coloradoan, reporting and writing about Colorado's great outdoors. I got paid to climb mountains and road trip around Colorado. It was awesome. Until it wasn't. I was laid off in October 2016, joining the ranks of thousands of other former journalists now searching for Plan B.
