Mary West moved from Las Vegas to Boulder in December 2015. She is a product designer at SparkFun Electronics, an innovative electronics company that brings new products, skills and resources to maker communities. Previously, Mary designed and built battery management systems for light electric vehicles in Las Vegas, NV and interned at the largest solar power plant in the world. Her passion for engineering and art led her volunteer as an Engineering Mentor for the Future Cities Competition, where they took first place all three years she worked with the junior high school team. She studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she also worked as an undergraduate research assistant and participated of several groups including the Space Grant Consortium, UAV club and Practical Electronics club. In her free time she enjoys leather tooling, sailing and woodworking.
