Bruce Brodeen has worked in the music business for almost 30 years. In the 80s, he worked in in concert promotion, band management, radio and record label publicity in Los Angeles. In 1994, after moving back to Colorado, he founded an independent record label and music distribution company called Not Lame Recordings which released around 120 CDs, including works from The Posies, Jellyfish, Tommy Keene and Dwight Twilley. Like everyone else who ever started an independent record label, Bruce became fabulously wealthy from his endeavors. At least that’s what the kids in his son’s 5th grade class were told on “Take Daddy to School Day”. The dreams of massive wealth working in the music industry continue to exist in his own Private Idaho but have yet to make it to his home in Ft. Collins, Colorado. In 2010, Not Lame Recordings closed after 16 years of bringing power pop to the world. In 2011, he launched a blog for power pop fans and artists, Pop Geek Heaven and published his first book, “Power Pop Prime – A History of Power Pop”. He has written four more books since, all of the physical, hold-in-your-hands type. A crazy concept, yes.
